"{ The Destruction Of Russia, And ALL Of Her Evil Allies - And Etcetera. Not If But . . . When: }?"

"The Ancient and Future 'Partial' Demise Of Egypt."

"Her Future Desolation { Ezekiel Ch. 30 }" . . .

( 1 ). The destruction of Egypt and her allies is now revealed to the prophet. It is a remarkable prophecy for the predictions concerning the humiliation and desolation of Egypt, the once powerful nation of culture, have found a most interesting fulfillment. The leading cities of Egypt are mentioned, which have long ago been wasted and their magnificent temples have crumbled into dust. In the second half of this chapter the king of Babylon as the executioner of the decrees of GOD is seen. The sword of judgment was put into Nebuchadnezzar's hand by GOD, so that he might stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.

"The Past And Future Desolation 0f Egypt And Her Allies" . . .

( 2 ). { V. 1 } Scripture: "The word of the Lord came again to me saying:

( 3 ). { V. 2 }: Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the LORD GOD; Howl you, Woe worth the day!

( 4 ). { V. 3 }: For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.

( 5 ). { V. 4 }: And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down.

( 6 ). { V. 5 }: Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the mingled people, and Chub, Lub, Libya, and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.

( 7 ). { V. 6 }: Thus says the LORD; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall by the sword, says the LORD GOD.

( 8 ). { V. 7 }: And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted.

( 9 ). { V. 8 }: And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and when all her helpers shall be destroyed.

( 10 ). { V. 9 }: In that day shall messengers go forth from Me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it is coming!

( 11 ). { V. 10 }: Thus says the LORD GOD; I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. [ I.e., Mostly past history, but read on. ] ...

( 12 ). { V. 11 }: He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land: and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.

( 13 ). { V. 12 }: And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waist, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it, { Ezekiel 30:1-12 }."

( 14 ). The above { Vs. 1-12 } paraphrased in commentary form . . .

( 15 ). { 1 } Scripture: "The word of the Lord came again to me saying:

( 16 ). { 2 }: Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the LORD GOD; Howl you, grievous distress' Alas for the day!" . . .

( 17 ). { 3 }: For the day is near, even the "day of the LORD [ i.e., the time of GOD's intervention in judgment," though the phrase is usually used eschatologically for the future Tribulation Period, ] is near, a cloudy day; it shall be 'the time of [ doom' for] the "heathen [ Gentile nations" ].

( 18 ). { 4 }: And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and "great pain [ anguish and great sorrow" ] shall be in "Ethiopia [ Cush"], when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and "they [ the Babylonians - in the past tense" ] shall take away 'her multitude [ of people and plunder' the land ], and her foundations shall be broken down.

( 19 ). { 5 }: "Ethiopia [ Cush"], and "Libya [Put"], and "Lydia [ Lud" ], and all the 'mingled people [ foreigners living in Egypt, ], and "Chub [ Lub, Libya" ], and the "children of the land [ of the covenant" with GOD, i.e., "the Hebrews who had taken refuge in Egypt" and ] 'that were still' in league [ with Egypt - GOD's enemies ], shall fall 'with [ the wicked Egyptians' ] by the sword.

( 20 ). { 6 }: Thus says the LORD; 'They also [ such as Ethiopia' ] 'that uphold [ or lean upon and are supported by' ] Egypt shall fall; and the pride of "her [ Egypt's" ] power shall come down: 'from [ Migdol in the north to' ] the 'tower of Syene [ in the south' ] 'they shall fall by the sword, says the LORD GOD.'

( 21 ). { 7 }: And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that 'are wasted [ by plunder and subjection' ].

( 22 ). { 8 }: And they 'shall know [ understand and realise' ] that 'I am the LORD [ the Sovereign Ruler, calling forth loyalty and obedient service' ], when I have set a fire in Egypt, and when 'all her helpers [ those whom are for her against Israel' ] shall be destroyed.

( 23 ). { 9 }: In that day 'shall [ swift' ] messengers "go forth from Me [ JEHOVAH GOD" ] in ships to 'make [ terrify' ] 'the careless [ and unsuspecting' ] Ethiopians [ and cause them to be ] afraid, and great pain [ anguish and great sorrow ] shall come upon them [ as ] 'in the day of Egypt's [ doom' ]: for, 'lo [ take notice their day' ], it is coming!

( 24 ). { 10 }: Thus says the LORD GOD; I will also 'make the [ violent disorder, and the wealth' of the large ] multitude of Egypt to cease - by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon."

24 ). Commentary . . . I.e., even though much of this prophecy was completed in the past, it will play itself over in the future during the "DAY OF THE LORD! Prophecy in different ways plays itself again under different circumstances. And, usually it has to do with Israel's enemies one way or another! Remember: what goes around, comes around! See the verse below from { Ecclesiastes 1:9 }. . . .

( 25 ). { 11 }: He and his people with him, 'the [ most' ] terrible of the nations, 'shall be brought [ in' ] to destroy the land: and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.

( 26 ). { V. 12 }: And I will make 'the [ man made artificial streams' and ] 'rivers [ of the Nile delta' ] dry, and sell the land into the hand of 'the wicked [ evil men' ]: and I will make the 'land waist [ desolate' ], and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: "I the LORD [ the Sovereign Ruler, calling forth loyalty and obedient service ] have spoken it, { Ezekiel 30:1-12 }."

( 27 ). Scripture: "The thing that has been, is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun, { Ecclesiastes 1:9 }."

( 28 ). Commentary ... The prophet's first utterance is concerning that day. "Howl you! Alas for the day! For the day is near", [ This may also be rendered "the day draws near, even the day of the LORD draws near," ] ."even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the Gentiles." What day is this? Other prophets mention the day of Jehovah as a day of judgment and wrath when the LORD will deal in His righteousness with the nations of the earth. See { Isaiah Ch. 2; -13:6, 9; - Joel 1:15; - 2:1, 11; - 3:14; - Amos 5:18, 20; - Obadiah 15; - Zephaniah 1:7, 14; - & - Zechariah 14:1, Etc. }

( 29 ). This day in its final meaning is the day on which the LORD JESUS CHRIST will be visibly revealed from heaven. It is mentioned in the New Testament in { 1- Thessalonians 5:2; - & - 2- Thessalonians 2:2 } [ where "day of CHRIST" should be rendered "Day of the LORD" ] and in { 2- Peter 3:10 }. This day will bring "man's day" to a close and usher in a new millennial age, when righteousness shall reign as Grace reigns now.

( 30 ). This day of coming judgment of all nations is seen also here in a prophetic perspective. All previous judgments of nations as announced by GOD's prophets, nations which sinned against Israel - GOD's chosen people, which foreshadows the one great day, when the times of the Gentiles will end in the revealed manner { Daniel 2:34; - & - 7:10-13 }. What came on Egypt in the past through Divine judgment will happen to the Gentile nations in the future at the close of our age. And those day's was just a shadow in typology of the things that will once again take place in that future Tribulation day to soon transpire.

( 31 ). { V. 7 } Scripture: "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the LORD JESUS shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels,

( 32 ). { V. 8 }: In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know NOT GOD, and that obey NOT the Gospel of our LORD JESUS CHRIST,

( 33 ). { V. 9 }: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the LORD, and from the glory of His power;

( 34 ). { V. 10 }: When He shall come to be glorified in the Saints, and to be admired in all them that believe because our testimony among you was believed in that day, { 2- Thessalonians 1:7-10 }."

( 35 ). { Vs. 7-10 }: above paraphrased in commentary form . . .

( 36 ). { 7 }: "And to [ recompense ] you who are so distressed and afflicted [ by granting you ] relief and rest along with us ... your fellow sufferers ... when the LORD JESUS is revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels in a flame of fire;

( 37 ). { 8 }: To deal out retribution ... chastisement and vengeance upon those who do not know or perceive or become acquainted with GOD, 'and [ upon those' ] who ignore and refuse to obey 'the Gospel [ of the Mystery of the Grace of GOD' and of ] our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

( 38 ). { 9 }: Such people will pay the penalty and suffer the punishment of 'everlasting ruin [ destruction and perdition' ] 'and [ eternal exclusion and banishment ] from the presence of the LORD and from the glory of His power,'

( 39 ). { 10 }: When He comes to be glorified in His SAINTs. [ That is, on that [ established Messianic Kingdom day of MESSIAH, He will be made more glorious in His consecrated people ] and [ 'He will ] be marvelled at and admired [ in His glory' reflected]: in all who have believed ... who have adhered to, trusted in and relied on Him ... because our witnessing among you was confidently accepted 'and believed [ and confirmed in your lives' ]."

( 40 ). Commentary . . . { V, 7 }: "Rest with us." I.e., with Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy who knew what it was to be under persecution and pressure for their faith { 1- Thessalonians 1:6; - & - 2:14-18 }, Rest is promised at the retuurn of CHRIST, Who will then judge those who afflicted His people { V. 6. } ... { V. 9 }: "Everlasting destruction." Not annihilation, but ruin by reason of separation from the presence of the LORD. In { 1- Thessalonians 5:3 } the destruction is said to be sudden; here eternal. { V. 10 }: "In that Day." which refers to the precise day that MESSIAH returns to the earth to reign.

( 41 ). Ever since the times of the Gentiles began with Nebuchadnezzar the divinely appointed head { Jeremiah 27:4-8 } this day of the LORD has been drawing nearer, till now with the present day events, we can see this day rapidly approaching. The sword was to fall upon Egypt as well as upon Ethiopia, Libya, and Lydia [ Hebrew: Phut and Lud, see { Ezekiel 27:10 }, and upon all the others that were in league with them.

( 42 ). Egypt's foundations were to be broken down and the pride of her power shall come down. All this has come to pass and for many centuries the once powerful and proud Egypt has thus been broken down. From Migdol to 'Syene [ not from the tower of Syene' ] were to fall by the sword of the LORD. { V. 7 } shows the wide sweep of the judgment, covering the surrounding countries.

( 43 ). Their desolation was to be a desolation in the midst of those places that had become desolate. It has come literally true. The surrounding countries shared the desolation of the land itself.

( 44 ). Egypt has been rightly called "The land of ruins," a vast burial place of the art, i.e., architecture and glory of the past, and her present towns [ except Alexandria which cannot be reckoned among the ancient cities, as it was unknown to the Pharaohs at that time ] are, as it were, dwellings among the tombs.

( 45 ). What a remarkable fulfillment of what the LORD announced through His servant Ezekiel! May we here be reminded in our solemn times that the same omniscient LORD, Who knows the end from the beginning, has also spoken concerning this present age, now closing in its predicted apostasy.

( 46 ). Nations today steeped in bloodshed; nations filled with covetousness and hatred; an apostate professing Christendom, and the indifferent masses have written over against them the judgment and - wrath of the coming KING.

( 47 ). The LORD JEHOVAH Who fulfilled several prophetic events that were prophesied by Ezekiel will also fulfil every other prediction uttered by His other Holy Prophets and Apostles. The times of the Gentiles are still in force, and this includes the nation of Egypt.

( 48 ). Egypt will in the future, pass through another tremendous judgment. But, during MESSIAH's future Messianic Reign, Egypt will turn back to the LORD and will receive many blessings that has been predicted by the prophet Isaiah. Read { Isaiah 19:18-25 }.

( 49 ). Isaiah in his GOD instituted prophetic language concerning the coming "Day of the Lord, also refers thus to the cedars of Lebanon poetically and prophetically:

( 50 ). { V. 12 } Scripture: "For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low.

( 51 ). { V. 13 }: And upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, { Isaiah 2:12-13 }."

( 52 ). The above { Vs. 12-13 } paraphrased in commentary form . . .

( 53 ). { 12 }: "For there shall be a day of the LORD of hosts against all that is proud and haughty and against all that is lifted up, and they shall be brought low; see { Zephaniah 2:3; - Matthew 3:12; - Isaiah 5:21-25; - & - Malachi 4:1. }

( 54 ). { 13 }: [ The wrath of GOD will begin by coming down ] against all the cedars of Lebanon [ west of the Jordan river ] that are high and lifted up, and against all the oaks of Bashan [ east of the Jordan river ]."

( 55 ). Commentary ... "The day of the LORD." See again the introduction to the Book of Joel. A time of GOD's judgment, referring to Babylon's coming conquest of Judah in the past tense, that was similar to the events that will transpire in the future Tribulation Period just before the Second Advent of MESSIAH. The words in { Ezekiel 31:6 } are very interesting: "All the fowls of Heaven made their nests in his boughs."

( 56 ). The same statement is made in the dream of Nebuchadnezzar, in which the King of Babylon had seen a great tree, "and the fowls of heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof," { Daniel 4:12 }." And our LORD spoke a parable of the mustard seed which became a tree; "So that the birds of the air come and lodged in the branches thereof, { Matthew 13:32 }."

( 57 ). Commentary . . . The fowls mean people who associated with Assyria, Egypt and the King of Babylon, while these powers became proud and lifted up. The mustard tree in the parable of our LORD could represent in typology or perhaps I should say in shadow form, a picture of the development of a future Gentile false Church system consisting of an earthly institution and organization.

( 58 ). And the fact is, many believe that there is such a system already established called "The World Council Of Churches." Should this be correct, this means it will become lifted up like a big tree. And the birds that would find shelter there would consist of a symbol of the unclean, and of the unsaved masses, nominally professing Christianity, but not possessing the real CHRIST.

( 59 ). I.e., they, as many today, will profess CHRIST but do not possess Him as Saviour! GOD back at that time dealt with the Assyrians, and with the Pharaoh of Egypt. JEHOVAH humbled Nebuchadnezzar, and will yet deal in His coming great judgments with the Gentile nations of today for their pride and wickedness, as well as with Christendom, so-called. The judgment upon Assyria was also soon to fall upon Egypt because they were both lifted up with pride and defied JEHOVAH.

( 60 ). { V. 10 } Scripture: "Therefore thus says the LORD GOD; because you have lifted up yourself in 'height, and he has shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

( 61 ). The above { V. 10 } paraphrased in commentary form . . . "Therefore thus says the LORD GOD; because 'you [ Pharaoh': ] have lifted up yourself in 'height, [ Pharaoh's sin was pride' - as was Satan's: { 28:6, 17, } and he has shot up his top among the thick boughs, and 'his heart [ mind' ] is lifted up in his height. [ in his own mind ... "intellect" ... he was the greatest. This seems to be what one or more of our leaders today think of themselves! But Pharaoh here in typology . . . also seems to refers to Satan himself ];

( 62 ). { V. 11 }: I have therefore delivered him into the hand of "the mighty one of the heathen [ nations Nebuchadnezzar" and ]; he shall surely deal with him; I have driven 'him [ Pharaoh' ] out for his wickedness [ and lawlessness, just like GOD drove Satan out of His Own Personal Presence in the past ], { Ezekiel 31:10-11 }."

( 63 ). Commentary ... Other nations were comforted when Egypt fell, but they too would "go down [ went down is a prophetic perfect indicating future time: ] to hell eventually." Behind these nations of the past stood, as can be seen concerning the King of Tyrus in { Ezekiel Ch. 28 }, the dark shadow of the enemy of GOD.

( 64 ). The LORD is still on His throne and the master over all the world's nations, and He will show his tremendous power at the close of the time of the Gentiles through His prophesied judgment! Satan's crime is that he was and still is lifted up with evil pride. He fell because he said:

( 65 ). Scripture: "I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of GOD ... I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High, { Isaiah 14:13-14 }."

( 66 ). Commentary ... Therefore this awful false god Satan, is the prince of this world { 2- Corinthians 4:4 - & - Matthew 12:26 }, the god of this age, wwho Still rules domineeringly over the kingdoms of this world, till he is dethroned by the return of MESSIAH. He has led in the past and still leads nations into ruin and ripens them for Divine judgment just as he is leading this country right at this very instant through an evil leadership [ I.e., as of 2010! ]

( 67 ). He is accomplishing this through man's lust for power, and because of his own pride that goes with it, in complete defiance of Almighty GOD! ... Today our boasting, proud, lifted up and GOD- defiant age, an age which rejects GOD's best, the Gospel of GOD's Son, is rapidly approaching the threatened judgment, a judgment far more severe than those which overtook Assyria and Egypt. [ A good Bible student can see the typology involved in these lessons! ]

( 68 ). JEHOVAH used Nebuchadnezzar to bring judgment upon Egypt, as we have already learned. He was the golden head of the image mentioned in Daniel which represents the times of the Gentiles, which may soon take on their final form, the ten kingdoms in the future revived Roman Empire, { Daniel Ch. 2 }.

( 69 ). Nebuchadnezzar also became lifted up with pride and JEHOVAH humbled him for "Seven years when he ate grass with the animals, see { Daniel 4:28-33 }," just as GOD will yet humble the world's Gentile nations.

( 70 ). The judgments of the past, upon Assyria and others is to be a warning to others, but who among the nations is wise and heeds the warnings of the LORD's holy Word? See { Romans 11:16-24 }, where Christendom is warned not to boast and not to be high minded.

( 71 ). While all of this primarily refers to the Pharaoh and Egypt, these words of judgment are also related to that which is yet and soon to come upon this earth. Egypt is the type of the world as it lies in the wicked one.

( 72 ). Nations today are doing what Egypt did. These nations today, are the final actors of the times of the Gentiles, in their inhuman, GOD and man defying actions, and will not be permitted to go on much longer on this well used path.

( 73 ). A day is soon to come when the LORD will deal with them as He dealt with Egypt of old. When that day comes, the "Day of JEHOVAH," He will be present, and there completely overthrow all Gentile nations thus this prophecy will be completed, and the great judgment supper of the LORD will take place.

( 74 ). It will be during the "Day of JEHOVAH," when the fowls under heaven are called upon to gather together to feed upon the slain. It is very interesting when we read the following Scriptural texts and compare them together . . .

( 75 ). Scripture: "Then will I leave 'you [ Egypt' ] upon the land, I will cast you forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the [ atmospheric ] heaven to remain upon you, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth upon your [ flesh ], { Ezekiel 32:4 }."

( 76 ). { V. 17 } Scripture: "And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in 'the midst of [ the atmospheric' ] heaven, come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great GOD, see { Ezekiel 39:4, 17-20. }

( 77 ). { V. 18 }: That you may eat the flesh of 'kings [ rulers' ], and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit upon them, and the flesh of 'all men [ humanity as a whole' ], both free and bond, both small and great, { Revelation 19:17-18 }."

The same is also interesting when we compare these next verses . . .

( 78 ). { V. 7 } Scripture: "And when I shall 'put you out, [ and will have extinguished you' ] I will cover the [ atmospheric ] heaven [ over Egypt and the world as a whole ], and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.

( 79 ). { V. 8 }: All the "bright lights [ the stars that shine in the "second ] heaven [ consisting primarily in this instants the Milky-Way Galaxy" ] will I make dark over you, and set darkness upon your land, says the LORD GOD, { Ezekiel 32:7-8 }."

( 80 ). { V. 12 } Scripture: "And the 'forth angel sounded [ and blew his trumpet' ], and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as 'the [ light of the' ] third part of them was darkened, and the 'day [ light' ] shone not for a third part of it, and 'the night likewise [ will have no light in it also' ], { Revelation 8:12 }." Then read . . .

( 81 ). Scripture: "For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened 'in his going forth [ i.e., at its rising' ], and the moon shall not cause her light to shine, { Isaiah 13:10 }."

( 82 ). Scripture: "And it shall come to pass in 'that [ tribulation' ] day, says the LORD GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day, { Amos 8:9 }." See { Ezekiel 32:7- 10 }.

( 83 ). Scripture: "The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining, { Joel 3:15 }." And . . .

( 84 ). Scripture: "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, { Matthew 24:29 }."

( 85 ). Commentary ... That day announced in these Scriptures and others is rapidly approaching and will bring the complete overthrow of the domineering, autocratic world-powers and the god of this age, who controls them. "The sword of the LORD" to fall upon Egypt was the King of Babylon, previously announced in { Ezekiel Ch. 29 - & - 30 }.

( 86 ). At the close of the times of the Gentiles the Battle of Armageddon will take place, and at that time the predicted judgment will not come upon nations through some other nation, but the LORD Himself will appear and fight against the nations who are rebellious against GOD and against His anointed, { Psalm Two. }

( 87 ). The Stone, which Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream, will fall and deal its destructive blow; and that Stone is the LORD JESUS CHRIST Israel's MESSIAH in His personal return at His Second Coming.

( 88 ). Then the pomp of Egypt, and this present age with all its boasted progress and glory, will pass away and the kingdom from above will be set up. "Then shall they know that I am the LORD." It is not a spiritual knowledge, or a knowledge unto salvation, but a knowledge in the judgments which must take place.

( 89 ). It is important to consider one point in this series of prophecies, which commences with the judgment of Jerusalem, the center of the former system of the nations. They are executed with the object of making them know JEHOVAH: only in Israel's case there is besides this, the understanding and the special verification of prophecy. See "{ Ezekiel 24:24-27 }, Israel."

"{ Ezekiel 25:5, 7, 11, } Ammon and Moab."

"{ Ezekiel 25:15-17 } especial vengeance on the Philistines."

"{ Ezekiel Ch. 26, } Tyre."

"{ Ezekiel 28:22 }, Zidon."

"{ Ezekiel 29:19, } Egypt ..., and also { Ezekiel 30:26, - & - 32: 15 }."

( 90 ). With respect to Edom { Ezekiel 25:14 }, it is only said that Edom shall know the vengeance of JEHOVAH by means of Israel . . . a further proof that in certain respects this prophecy extends to the last Tribulation days.

( 91 ). These prophecies, then, furnish us in general with the manifestation of JEHOVAH's power, so as to make Him known to all by the judgments which He executed; already partially realized in the past conquests of Nebuchadnezzar, but to be fully accomplished by-and-by in favour of Israel."
