{ MALACHI 1;7-12 }

( 1 ). { V. 7 } Scripture: "You offer polluted bread upon My altar; and you say wherein have we polluted You? In that you say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.

( 2 ). { V. 8 }: And if you offer the blind for sacrifice , is it not evil? and if you offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto your governor; will he be pleased with you, or accept your person? says the LORD of hosts.

( 3 ). { V. 9 }: And now, I pray you, beseech GOD that He will be gracious unto us: this has been by your means: will He regard your persons? says the LORD of hosts.

( 4 ). { V. 10 }: Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? neither do you kindle fire on My altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

( 5 ). { V. 11 }: For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same My name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto My name, and a pure offering: for My name shall be great among 'the heathen [ all Gentiles' ], says the LORD of hosts.

( 6 ). { V. 12 }: But you have profaned it, in that you say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even His meat, is contemptible, { Malachi 1:7-12 }."

( 7 ). The above { Vs. 7-12 } paraphrased below in commentary form . . .

( 8 ). { 7 }: "By offering polluted food upon My altar. And you ask, how have we polluted it and profaned You? The answer is, you profaned Me by thinking that the table of the LORD is contemptible and may be despised.

( 9 ). { 8 }: When you priests offer 'blind [ animals' ] for sacrifice, isn't this an evil thing you do? And when you offer the crippled and the sick animals, instead of the pure and well animals, isn't that an evil trait you have gotten into? "Now you go and present such weak animals and impure offerings to your governor [ in payment for your taxes, and see what will happen to you" ]. Do you think he will be pleased with you? Or do you believe that he will receive your offerings graciously? Says the LORD GOD JEHOVAH of hosts.

( 10 ). { 9 }: Now then, 'I [ Malachi' ] beg of you priests, entreat JEHOVAH GOD earnestly that 'He will be gracious to us. [ Truthfully this has been the dishonest way you do things!' ] ... [ 'Do you really think for one minute, ] that GOD will accept such a gift from your hand: [ as a defective animal for sacrifice?' ], will The LORD accept it or show favor to any of you? 'will He really regard your persons [ as being honest and just?' ] says the LORD of hosts.

( 11 ). { 10 }: Oh, that if there were just one person 'amongst you [ whose duty it is to minister to Me' ] who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on My altar to no purpose [ an empty, futile, fruitless pretence ]! I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD JEHOVAH of hosts, nor will I accept an offering from your hand.

( 12 ). { 11 }: For from the rising of the sun to its setting My Name shall be great among the nations, and in every place imaginable incense shall be offered to My Name, and indeed a pure offering; for "My Name MESSIAH shall be great among the [ heathen - Gentile ] nations", says the LORD JEHOVAH of hosts.

( 13 ). { 12 }: But 'you [ corruptible ] priests' [ constantly ] 'profane My [ Name' ], when [ 'by your actions ] you say, The table of the LORD is polluted, and the fruit of it, its food, is contemptible' and may be despised, { Malachi 1:7-12 }."

( 14 ). Commentary . . . Now the third accusation brought against Israel and her priests - GOD relates to Temple worship. We know that the Temple has not as yet been rebuilt in Israel, but the Bible tells us that it will be rebuilt during the Tribulation Period, and Temple worship services, including the sacrifice of animals, will once again as of old be resumed.

( 15 ). In an addition of Jewish current events - men from the Tribe of Levi have been sent to school to learn the Law, how to conduct Temple worship services and offer up sacrifices. This is happening in Israel today,

( 16 ). It is possible that this charge by GOD against Israel could have had an initial reference to Temple worship in the time that the book of Malachi was written; however, we have no other Scriptural cross reference with which to compare.

( 17 ). Malachi was the last Old Testament book to be written, and even Josephus was silent on Temple worship during this time. . . . [ Read our message concerning . . . "The Temples Of GOD" ].

( 18 ). While the Temple, from the return of the Jews to the time of the Roman conquest, was continually being desecrated by Gentile pagans as a kind of sport. Josephus mentions no desecration by the Jews except the case of John the high priest who slew his brother on the Temple grounds in a fit of anger.

( 19 ). Even the Pharisees would have given their lives to save the Temple from being polluted! When the soldiers of the Roman army set fire to the Temple in A.D. 70., the priests rushed to protect the altar and their throats were cut as they attempted to fight off the swords of the Romans with their bare hands.

( 20 ). The Temple placed upon Israel a most solemn and holy obligation. In 1948 the Jews could have easily annexed the Temple site to Jerusalem, but at that time they did not want to assume the responsibility that a Temple would place upon them.

( 21 ). According to the prophetic statements of the Old Testament, at MESSIAH'S return He will rebuild a Millennial Temple for His Own use! The replacement of a Temple for MESSIAH to enter will be a must for the KING Of KINGS when He comes to institute a Millennium of peace and fulfill the Covenants made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For "EXAMPLE", we read . . .

( 22 ). Scripture: "Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: and the LORD, Whom you seek, shall suddenly come to His Temple . . . { Malachi 3:1 }."

( 23 ). Commentary . . . Disagreeing with most concerning their interpretations of the above verse ... We absolutely must state that this was not fulfilled at MESSIAH'S first Coming. It is true JESUS CHRIST went to the Temple and He cleansed the Temple, yet the priests did not accept Him as their MESSIAH.

( 24 ). At MESSIAH'S Second Advent there will be no Temple left on earth because it will have been destroyed during the Tribulation Period. The KING at His return will then build a Millennial Temple Himself.... Later, JESUS said . . .

( 25 ). Scripture: "Behold, your 'house [ referring to Herod's Temple' ] is left to you desolate, { Matthew 23:38 }." [ We will Paraphrase this verse later in our message ].

( 26 ). Commentary . . . This pronouncement was carried out in 70 A.D. And it was a sign, that Israel could neither expect the MESSIAH nor expect that His Kingdom would be established until the Tribulation Temple will be built. And, neither would MESSIAH appear until the tribulation Temples future destruction. Then a larger Millennial Temple will have to be rebuilt in the old Temples place. [ Again we repeat, be sure and read our message concerning "The Temples Of GOD" ].

( 27 ). In the past, every article of furniture, every article of clothing worn by the priest, every order of worship service and every sacrifice in the Temple looked forward to the coming of the MESSIAH.

( 28 ). The two specific charges of pollution of the Temple against the priests involved the offering of polluted bread on the table of shewbread, and the offering of lame, blind and sick animals on the altar of burnt offerings.

( 29 ). Whether this pollution actually occurred in the rebuilt Temple in 400 B.C. we do not know, and even if it did, it looked forward to a great pollution in the days the MESSIAH would suddenly come to His Temple. And in that future day the priests will say . . .

( 30 ). Scripture: "Wherein have we polluted the Temple?"

( 31 ). Commentary . . . They are saying . . . Deal in specifics. Give us an example." And here in the Bible we have the LORD'S answer. First, the Table of Shewbread is polluted.

( 32 ). Upon the Table of Shewbread, the priests would place 12 loaves of fresh bread made from only the cleanest and finest flour in Israel.

( 33 ). Abimelech defiled the Table of Shewbread by giving the loaves to David's men, and this was an abomination to GOD because the loaves from the Table of Shewbread were to be eaten by the priests only.

( 34 ). The bread represented the bodily presence of the "True Bread, MESSIAH Himself" Who came down from Heaven. The priests represented all Israel in receiving the bread as a sign that when the "True Bread" of Heaven came - Israel would never hunger or thirst again. JESUS said . . .

( 35 ). Scripture: "I [ 'Myself ] am the living BREAD' which came down from Heaven: if any man eat of this BREAD, he shall live for ever: and the BREAD that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world, { John 6:51 }."

( 36 ). Commentary . . . For the inhabitants of the earth CHRIST sacrificed Himself as the Sacrificial LAMB. After the living BREAD had been broken for the life of the world, then any bread offered on the Table of Shewbread 'after that [ i.e., after the Cross' ] would be as polluted bread in comparison.

( 37 ). I believe what we have here in Malachi is symbolic pollution, because no priest would put literal polluted bread on the Table of Shewbread when they knew they themselves had to eat it.

( 38 ). And even though the bread offered in the Temple just prior to the LORD'S return may be clean bread made in accordance with the Law, in comparison to the BREAD [ of GOD - The LORD JESUS CHRIST Himself ] that was broken on the Cross, it will be as polluted bread to The TRIUNE GOD.

( 39 ). The next charge against the priests is that they offered blind, sick and lame animals upon the altar of burnt offerings. The animal offered on the altar constituted a covering for the sins of the people.

( 40 ). We read in the Epistle to the Hebrews that without the shedding of blood is no remission, and MESSIAH as the LORD JESUS CHRIST came as the perfect and spotless LAMB of GOD to make an offering for the sin once and for all time. Read { Hebrews 9:24-28 }.

( 41 ). JESUS CHRIST Israel's MESSIAH was the One to Whom all the sacrifices offered under the old Law pointed. . . . We read of the animal to be used in the Passover . . .

( 42 ). Scripture: "Your 'lamb [ or kid' ] shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: you shall take it out from the sheep . . ., { Exodus 12:5 }." [ We read of the fulfillment of all sacrificial animals . . . The Apostle stated . . .

( 43 ). { V. 19 } Scripture: " But with the precious blood of CHRIST, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

( 44 ). { V. 20 }: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

( 45 ). V. 21 }: Who by Him do believe in GOD, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in GOD, { 1- Peter 1:19-21 }."

( 46 ). The above { Vs. 19-21 } paraphrased below in commentary form:

( 47 ). { 19 }: "But [ you were 'purchased ] with the precious blood of CHRIST', the MESSIAH, like that of 'a [ sacrificial ] lamb without blemish or spot. [ This refers to the sinlessness of CHRIST.' ] Read { Leviticus 22:19-25; - Acts 20:28 - Hebrews 9:18. } . . .

( 48 ). { 20 }: It is true that He was chosen and 'foreordained [ destined and foreknown for it' ] before the foundation of the world, but He was brought out to 'public view [ made manifest' ] in these days - at the end of the times - for the sake of you.

( 49 ). { 21 }: Through Him you 'believe [ adhere to, rely on - ] 'GOD [ the FATHER' ], Who raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him honor and glory, so that your faith and hope [ are centered and rest ] on Almighty GOD."

( 50 ). Scripture: "The next day John saw JESUS coming unto him, and said, 'Behold [ this is' ] the LAMB of GOD, Which takes away the sin of the world, { John 1:29 }." Read { Exodus 12:3 - & - Isaiah 53:7 }.

( 51. Commentary ... Lamb. History [ the Passover LAMB, { Exodus 12: 3 } and prophecy { the MESSIAH, Isaiah 53:7 } are linked in this metaphor. The words "sin of the world" did not mean just the sins of Israel, read { Isaiah 53:4-12; - & - 1- John 2:2 }. Paul, who referred to himself a Hebrew of the Hebrews, recognised this great truth when he said . . .

( 52 ). Scripture: "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For even our PASSOVER is sacrificed for us, { 1- Corinthians 5:7 }."

( 53 ). The above { V. 7 } paraphrased in commentary form . . . "Purge [ clean out' ] the old leaven that you may be 'fresh [ and new ] dough', 'still uncontaminated [ as you are' ], for 'CHRIST our PASSOVER [ LAMB' ], has been sacrificed [ for us ]."

( 54 ). Commentary . . . Leaven is a symbol of impurity, read { Matthew 13:33 }. By position the Corinthians were unleavened; Paul urged that their practice correspond. As to the Passover in the verse, read { Exodus 12:1-28 }.

( 55 ). CHRIST in this instance - was already sacrificed, and, just as Passover was followed by the Feast of Unleavened Bread, so should the Corinthians Christians, who were already cleansed from their sins. They were told to walk in holiness, as we who have followed them as SAINTS of GOD should also do!

( 56 ). The view of GOD toward Temple sacrifices after the death of CHRIST that was revealed to Malachi was also expressed by Isaiah.

( 57 ). The 66th chapter of Isaiah clearly refers to the end of the Hebrew age and the bringing in the end of the Millennial Kingdom, and we read of the Tribulation Temple . . .

( 58 ). { V. 1 } Scripture: "Thus says the LORD, The Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool: where is the house that you build unto Me? and where is the place of My rest?

( 59 ). { V. 3 }: He that kills an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrifices a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offers an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burns incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yes they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations, { Isaiah 66:1, 3 }." We read . . .

( 60 ). The above { V. 3 } paraphrased below in commentary form. . . "The acts of the hypocrite's worship is as abominable to GOD as if they were offered to idols." ] He who kills an ox then will be as guilty as if he slew and sacrificed a man; he who sacrifices a lamb or a kid, as if he broke a dogs neck and sacrificed him; he who offers a cereal offering, will be as if it were swine's blood; he who burns incense to GOD, as if he blessed an idol. Such people have chosen their own ways, and they delight in their 'abominations [ i.e., sinful lives' ]."

( 61 ). { 3 }: Commentary . . . The meaning is this: "Ritualistic offerings apart from the change of the heart { V. 2 } are as abominable to GOD as murder or offering unclean animals." We should really learn by this truth! . . . Even today during this Dispensation of Grace, ritualistic practices are being taught and performed in the Christian Assemblies by ministers whom should know better.

( 62 ). This shows how modern pharisaism has been instituted into our Christian Assemblies today! This also proves that the Old Testament Law and ordinances is still being practiced under apostate teachers. Or should we say, foolishly applied by Christians whom are led astray by many apostate professors? Read { Ephesians 2:13-16; - & - Colossians 2:13-15 }. While reading these verses - as we have said ... think deeply! do not be shallow minded!

( 63 ). As we have stated before, CHRIST JESUS the sacrificial LAMB was what sacrifices looked forward to till He made the Sacrifice on the Cross where He died "ONCE and FOR ALL" for our sins ..., read { 1- Peter 2:21; - 3:18; - 4:1; - Hebrews 9:26; - & - Romans 5:2. } Therefore, on the other hand - during the future Tribulation Period, people will be offering up sacrifices as of old not realizing that the SACRIFICIAL LAMB was offered two millennia ago and rejected. Thus, ritualistic offerings during the Tribulation will be an abomination to MESSIAH Who was offered up once, and for all time in the past. ... And we repeat this next verse . . .

( 64 ). Scripture: "For from the 'rising of the sun [ in the east' ] even to the 'going down of the same [ in the west' ] My name shall be great among 'the [ heathen' ] Gentile [ nations, ]; and in every place incense shall be offered unto My name, 'and [ indeed ] a pure offering: for My name shall be great among the 'heathen [ Gentile nations' ], says the LORD of hosts, { Malachi 1:11 }."

( 65 ). Commentary . . . "The word Gentile refers to unsaved pagans." This above verse could possibly refer to the future Dispensation of Grace as a type - even though this present Grace Dispensation isn't spoken of in the Old Testament.

( 66 ). It could refer to this age where hundreds of millions of Saints have and will be saved out from the 'heathenistic [ Pagan' ] Gentile nations by the preaching of the Gospel of CHRIST. . . . MESSIAH'S Name positively will be great among all people when He reigns on His throne in Jerusalem.

( 67 ). The fact is, as we have stated . . . The prophets of Israel were never told anything about this particular Grace Dispensation. We read:

( 68 ). { V. 1 } Scripture: "For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of JESUS CHRIST for you Gentiles,

( 69 ). { V. 2 }: If you have heard of the Dispensation of the Grace of GOD which is given Me to you- ward:

( 70 ). { V. 3 }: How that by revelation He made known unto me the MYSTERY; [ as I wrote before in few words,

( 71 ). { V. 4 }: Whereby, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of CHRIST.

( 72 ). { V. 5 }: Which in other ages was NOT made known unto the sons of men, as it is "NOW" revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit, { Ephesians 3:1-5 }." Read { Romans 16:25 }.

( 73 ). The above { Vs. 1-5 } paraphrased below in commentary form ... ( 74 ). { 1 }: "For this 'reason [ i.e., because I preached to you who have been lost heathenistic Gentiles and now ], I Paul [ who has been ordained by CHRIST have become ], the prisoner of JESUS the CHRIST for the sake and on behalf 'of you [ who were unsaved until this time' ],

( 75 ). { 2 }: Assuming that you have heard of the 'Dispensation { Oikonomia Greek.' . . . Ephesians 1:10; - Colossians 1:25; - & - 1- Corinthians 9:17 } of the 'Grace of GOD [ His unmerited favor' ] which 'is given [ and entrusted to me personally to dispense' ] to you for your benefit:

( 76 ). { 3 }: And how this mysterious secret was entrusted to me personally, and I have now been allowed to comprehend it by direct revelation from CHRIST JESUS, as I have already briefly informed you in writing.

( 77 ). { 4 }: Therefore, when you read this you may understand my knowledge and insight into the 'mystery of CHRIST.'

( 78 ). { 5 }: This particular 'MYSTERY OF THE GRACE OF GOD DISPENSATION' was positively never disclosed to any human beings in past generations as it has now been revealed to 'His holy apostles [ whom are his consecrated messengers' . . . 'who have now been informed of all this ] by me Paul, personally', through the power of GOD The LORD JESUS CHRIST and by GOD the HOLY SPIRIT and GOD the FATHER, the THREE in ONE, ] { Ephesians 3:1-5 }." Read our message { "THE TRINITARIAN GODHEAD" }.

( 79 ). Commentary ... It is debatable today just how great the name of JESUS CHRIST is among the nations of the world. And also, about the greatness of His name among GOD'S born again Children to which Malachi refers - while looking forward beyond the great Tribulation Period.

( 80 ). And that will be, during the future Millennial reign of MESSIAH which the Scriptures tell us about. Thus, MESSIAH'S glory will fill the earth and the leaders of the nations will come to Jerusalem to worship Him. We notice also the reference here to the rising of the sun, and now we read . . .

( 81 ). Scripture: "But to you that fear My name shall the SUN of righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and 'you [ Israelis' ] shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall, { Malachi 4:2 }."
