PART TWO

THE ANCIENT LAND OF EDOM, AND THE CITY NAMED PETRA . . . AND MUCH MORE . . .THE QUESTION IS:

"WHERE IS THE PLACE THAT THE JEWISH REMNANT WILL BE LIVING WHEN THEY ACCEPT CHRIST AS THEIR MESSIAH AND KING DURING THE LAST HALF OF THE TRIBULATION PERIOD?"

( 1 )- And immediately we give the answer to the above question. . . . The Remnant of Israel will finally once and for-all accept CHRIST [ as their MESSIAH ] in Petra [ or Sela of Edom ], which is in present day Southern Jordan. This is where the Jews will flee from the evil 'One World leader Antichrist.'

( 2 )- { V. 5 } Scripture: "And she brought forth a man child, Who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto GOD, and to his throne.

( 3 )- { V. 6 } And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared of GOD, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred threescore days, { Revelation 12:5 -6 }."

( 4 )- The above { Vs. 5-6 } paraphrased below in commentary form . . .

( 5 )- { 5 } "And she [ the woman ] brought forth a man [ male ] child, Who was [ destined ] to rule all nations with a rod [ i.e., scepter ] of iron: and her child was caught up unto GOD, and to His throne. Read { Acts 1:9; - Psalm 2;8-9 - & - 11o:1-2 }.

( 6 )- { 6 }: And the woman [ Israel herself ] fled into the wilderness [ of old Edom ], where she has a place prepared of GOD [ for her ], that they [ the angels of JEHOVAH ] shall feed her [ and keep her safe ]- there a thousand two hundred [ and ] threescore [ 60 ] days, [ forty two months - 'three and a half years', . . . just like Israel was miraculously fed for the following 40 years in the Sinai wilderness when she fled Egypt during the days of Moses ] . . ., { Revelation 12:5 - 6 }."

( 8 )- Scripture: "The woman [ Israel ] will flee unto the wilderness where she has a PLACE prepared by GOD. That they [ MESSIAH's angels ] shall feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days [ 3 - & - 1/2 years ], { Revelation 12:6 }.."

( 9 )- Commentary ... Dr. Kenneth Wuest translates "into the inhabited region, where she has there a place which is in the state of readiness and has been so prepared of GOD."

( 10 )- What a perfect description of present day Petra which long ago was annexed into Southern Jordan! There the saved Israeli Remnant will abide during the last half of the Great Tribulation Period - which consist of 3 - & - 1/2 years. This is also pointed oout by The LORD JESUS CHRIST Himself as written below which says . . .

( 11 )- { V. 15 } Scripture: "WHEN you, therefore, shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place,

( 12 )- { V. 16 }: THEN let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains,

( 13 )- { V. 17 }: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house . . .

( 14 )- { V. 18 }: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

( 15 )- { V. 19 }: And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

( 16 )- { V. 20 }: But pray you that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day . . .

( 17 ) - { V. 21 }: For THEN shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be, { Matthew 24:15-21 }."

( 18 ) The above { V. 15- 21 } paraphrased below in commentary form . . .

( 19 )- { 15 }: So when you [ Jewish people anywhere in the nation of Israel ] see [ or even hear that ] the appalling sacrilege [ the abomination that astonishes and makes desolate that was ], spoken of by the prophet Daniel [ in the holy Bible { Daniel 9:27; - 11:31; - & - 12:11 }, is now ], standing in the Holy Place [ of the Jerusalem Temple ] let the reader take notice and ponder and consider and heed [ all that concerns these things, let him understand at once: the following ] . . .

( 20 )- { 16 }: Then let those [ Israelis:] who are in Judea [ southern Israel, and elsewhere in that whole Israeli nation, run also and flee [ very rapidly ] to the mountains [ i.e., of Petra ];

( 21 )- { 17 }: Let him who is on the housetop 'NOT come down and go into the house" to take [ extra clothing, money, jewels or any - other ] things; [ but flee immediately for your life because the Antichrist will want to destroy every single Jew on the earth! ] . . .

( 22 )- { 18 }: And let him who is in the field [ or garden or anywhere outside ] not turn back to [ the house, or place where you work, or any place else to get something such ] as a canteen.

( 23 )- { 19 }: And 'alas [ you better believe that it will be tremendously bad' ]: 'for the women who are pregnant and for those who have nursing babies in those days!' [ This is a warning for all Jewish women to be ready from . . . and especially at - that particular future time ].

( 24 )- { 20 }: [ The fact is, 'All Israeli women' from the time you hear about this which WILL take place at the end of the first three and a half years of the Great Tribulation to come, you should prepare yourself by ] praying that your flight [ from wherever you are at that time ] may not be in winter or on a 'Sabbath [ i.e., Saturday' or any Hebrew holy day ].

( 25 )- { 21 }: For then [ at that very minute on - to the MESSIAH's return to end that short Dispensation of trouble ] there will be great tribulation [ affliction, distress, and oppression ] such as has not been from the beginning of the world until [ the future Tribulation Period comes to pass ] no, and never will be [ such again ], { Matthew 24: 15-21 }." [ "This takes place at the starting point of the MIDDLE of the Tribulation Period ] - [ And yet another prophet stated . . .

( 26 )- Scripture: "And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which stands for the children of your people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book, { Daniel 12:1 }."

( 27 )- The above { V. 1 } paraphrased below in commentary form . . .

( 28 )- Scripture: "And at that time [ of the Tribulation ] Michael [ the Archangel shall come forth and ] stand up for [ Daniel's Jewish brethren and GOD's Covenanted Hebrew people, and Michael is ], the great [ angelic ] prince which [ defends and has charge over all Israelis in the nation ], and he stands to defend the children of Your [ i.e., JEHOVAH's people: ] and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered to safety, every one that shall be found written in the book [ of everlasting life ], { Daniel 12:1 }."

( 30 )- Commentary . . . How will the Jewish people get to Petra? The apostle John foretold about one way Israelis would get back to Israel in the future nearly two thousand years ago . . .

( 31 )- Scripture: "And to the woman [ Israel ] were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might FLY into the wilderness, into HER PLACE, where she is nourished for a time, times and half a time [ 3 - & - 1/2 years ], from 'the face of the serpent [ i.e., Devil' ], { Revelation 12: 14 }."

( 32 )- Forty thousand Yemenite Jews were airlifted by the US. Air-force in airplanes back to Israel when Israel became a nation. They stated that this was a fulfillment of the prophet Moses, who 'had' foretold about GOD saying . . .

( 33 )- Scripture: "You [ Hebrews ] have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and HOW I 'bare [ i.e., carried ] YOU [ Israelis ] ON EAGLE'S WINGS and brought you unto Myself, { Exodus 19:4 }."

( 34 )- Commentary . . . Once again, we see how GOD may transport at least some of the Jewish people - by an airlift as He did as we mentioned above. But this writer can not see where there would be time to airlift millions of Jewish people by plane, or helicopters from Israel to Petra fast enough to get them out in the amount of time needed to keep them safe.

( 35 )- It sounds more likely that they will run away by their own conveniences what ever that will be. Nevertheless, once they are safe in GOD's Hiding Place, Satan will try to kill the Remnant of the Jews once and for all. One thing we can be sure of, they WILL get there! Scripture is clear concerning that prediction!!!

( 36 )- { V. 15 } Scripture: "And the serpent [ the old Devil ] cast out of his mouth water like a flood after the woman [ Israel ] that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. [ This shows that most of the people are running from Israel by land, and not by planes. A flood could never catch anybody if they were in planes!

( 37 )- { V. 16 }: And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon [ Satan ] cast out of his mouth, { Revelation 12:15-16 }."

( 38 )- Commentary . . . I believe that the Devil will try to drown the Jews with a flood. It might be by the seeding of clouds to cause an unusual amount of rain over that "city in the valley" surrounded by high mountains. It could also be from the overfilled water of the Dead Sea which is north of Petra, but one thing we do know - it positively will take place!

( 39 )- And again speaking of "EL SIG, another explorer said that the place leading into it is a cleft in the rocky entrance into Petra. He stated: It is a 5,000 foot long defile, as narrow as 12 feet, and is Petra's only entrance. Read again { Hosea 2:14 }."

( 40 )- But the question has been asked, "How could five or six million Jews live in this area? One of the guides who led people through that area stated "That - that would be no trouble at all." Yes the Jewish Remnant that are still alive at the middle point of the Great Tribulation Period will be able to reside very easily with GOD's protection in that place during the last half of that seven year period! And, they WILL!!!

( 41 )- We learned several years ago that twenty-five French girls had drowned in the narrow defile called "El Sig," which is the narrow trail that leads into Petra. This is the only entrance to the city. And, { Isaiah 43:2 } says to Israel . . .

( 42 )- Scripture: "When you pass through the waters, 'I WILL' be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you . . ., { Isaiah 43: 2 }."

( 44 )- Petra is an abandoned city in the rugged mountains of Biblical Edom [ Southern Jordan today ]. It is about 166 miles south of Annan, Jordan. This fabulous rose-red city, carved from sandstone, is about halfway between the southern end of the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba.

( 45 )- Petra is encircled by the rugged mountains of Edom. Esau, the brother of Jacob, migrated to this area, and was the ancestor of the Edomites. And much later GOD became very angry with the Edomites because they refused to let the children of Israel pass through their land before entering their own promised land of Canaan. And, this was sometime after they had fled Egypt, { Numbers 20:14-21; - & - Obadiah 5:10-12 }.

( 46 )- GOD's prophets prophesied that Edom's land would become desolate in { Jeremiah 49:16-17 - & - Obadiah 3 }. And so it is today! The valley is entered only through the El Sig. . . . The narrow defile in the "RED sandstone cliffs" which rise 200 to 300 feet. And this is the reason why Petra is called the Rose Red City of Edom.

( 47 )- At some places this narrow entrance is only about twelve feet wide. Having never measured the entrance into Petra myself, some of those who have measured El Sig have stated that from the entrance to the end of it is less than one mile long. . . . Petra was lost to the world for hundreds of years until, in 1812 when it was discovered by John Burckhardt.

( 48 )- Once through the narrow entrance, you are awed as you see the huge city! For 500 years the Nabatean Arabs painstakingly carved their capital from the rock of the surrounding mountains.

( 49 )- Rock stairs lead to rock-carved streets then to rock-carved palaces, tombs, and dwellings, it was stated that there were at least 2,000 of these in the valley. And the soft sandstone yields readily to the hammer and chisel.

( 50 )- According to the above, Jews with modern equipment could transform these mountain sides into houses like the modern "builders do" in our own American cities! In Petra of the past, when the Romans occupied Edom - they left an outdoor amphitheatre carved from rock there that easily seats 3,000 people. Standing before this Roman stadium, one could visualise our LORD MESSIAH appearing there to the Jewish Remnant living in this city! Concerning Israel in her future:

( 51 )- { V. 14 } Scripture: "Therefore, behold, 'I WILL' allure 'her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her, .

( 52 )- { V. 15 }: And 'I WILL' give her - her vineyards from thence, and the valley of A'chor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

( 53 )- { V. 16 }: And it shall be at that day, says the LORD, You shall call Me 'ISHI; and shall call Me no more 'Baali.

( 54 )- { V. 17 }: For 'I WILL' take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

( 55 )- { V. 18 }: And in that day 'I WILL' make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and the creeping things of the ground: and 'I WILL' break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and 'WILL' make them to lie down safely.

( 56 )- { V. 19 }: And 'I WILL BETROTH YOU TO ME FOR EVER;' yes, 'I WILL' BETROTH YOU TO ME in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

( 57 )- { V. 20 }: 'I WILL' even BETROTH YOU TO ME in faithfulness: and YOU shall know the LORD.

( 58 )- { V. 21 }: And it shall come to pass in that day, 'I WILL' hear, says the LORD, 'I WILL' hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

( 59 )- { V. 22 }: And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

( 60 )- { V. 23 }: And 'I WILL' sow her unto Me in the earth; and 'I WILL' have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and 'I WILL' say to them which were not my people, You are My people; and they shall say, You are my GOD, { Hosea 2:14-23 }."

( 61 )- The above { Vs. 14-23} Paraphrased below in commentary form:

( 62 )- { 14 } Scripture: "Therefore, behold, 'I WILL' allure 'her [ Israel MESSIAH's future BRIDE' ], and bring her into the wilderness [ of Petra ], and speak [ tenderly and ] comfortably to her. Read { Revelation 12:6 }. [ Notice all the "I WILL's in these verses from the past . . . "GOD NEVER CHANGES HIS MIND!" ]

( 63 )- { 15 }: And [ there ] 'I WILL' give her - [ My Israeli BRIDE ] her vineyards from thence [ i.e., from that time onward and forever ], and the valley of A'chor [ i.e., referring to the "valley of trouble," where Achan died { Joshua 7:26 }. Only through trouble will Israel have hope of eternal restoration. ] for a door of hope: [ and expectation ] and she shall sing there [ and respond ], as in the days of her youth, and as [ that olden time was: ] in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt [ during the great exodus with Moses ]. Read { Joshua 7:24-26; - & - Exodus 15:2 }.

( 64 )- { 16 }: And it shall be at that [ coming Millennial ] day, says the LORD [ to His BETROTHED - that ], You shalt call Me 'ISHI [ MY HUSBAND' ]; and shall call Me no more 'Baali [ i.e., my owner, or master' ].

( 65 )- { 17 }: For 'I WILL' take away the names of Baalim [ the Baals ] out of her [ Israel MY: BRIDE's ] mouth ..., and they [ of the redeemed Hebrew nation ] shall no more be [ mentioned or even ] remembered by [ even one of ] their names [ of the ancient past such as, Baalim which was plural, and expressed the various images of Baal. These names were given of course, according to the places where the false gods had been erected and received the various names, such as Baal- gad, Baal-ammon, etc: all false gods! ] . . .

( 66 )- { 18 }: And in "that day [ YOM ADONAI" which here speaks of that Millennial day of the LORD ] "WILL I" [ MESSIAH ] make a covenant for them [ and with them: the saved Israeli Remnant, the covenant will be ] with - [ the living creatures of the open country ], the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and [ all insect life that is harmful to man, and with ] the creeping things of the ground, and 'I WILL' break [ and do away with war armament ] the bow and the sword and [ 'I WILL' abolish all ] battle [ equipment and future conflicts of wars from ] out of the earth, and 'WILL' make you lie down safely. [ During the future Millennial Dispensation even all the beast will be tamed ]: Read { Isaiah 11:6-9 }.

( 67 )- { 19 }: And "I WILL" BETROTH YOU "TO ME FOR EVER;" yes, 'I WILL BETROTH YOU TO ME" in righteousness, and in [ justice ], and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

( 68 )- { 20 }: "I WILL" EVEN "BETROTH YOU TO ME" in [ stability and ] faithfulness, and YOU [ ISRAEL - MY BELOVED REMNANT AND MY BRIDE ] shall know [ recognize, be very much acquainted with, appreciate, give heed to and cherish ] ME AS YOUR HUSBAND AND AS your ] LORD, [ Saviour, KING and MESSIAH ].

( 69 )- { 21 }: And it shall come to pass in that day, "I WILL" hear [ and respond, ] says the LORD, "I WILL" respond to the heavens [ i.e., 'I WILL' answer the prayers that have ascended to heaven, which obviously ask for rain to pour on the earth ], and they shall hear [ the prayers and respond to ] the earth [ which begs for the rain it needs ]. . .

( 70 )- That is, there will be no rain on the earth for a three and a half year period at that time and I believe that it may take place in the first half of the Great Tribulation Period.

( 71 )- This would also equal the entire time of the ministry of the two prophets. Read { Revelation 11: Vs. 3, - & - 6. } This will also be a type of the drought that took place in { 1- Kings 17:1; - & - James 5:17 }.

( 73 )- { V. 23 }: And "I WILL" sow her [ MY BELOVED BRIDE ] unto me in the earth; and "I WILL" have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and "I WILL" say to [ them which were ] not my people, You [ are NOW AND FROM HENCE-FOURTH FOREVER MORE: ] My people; and they [ Israel as MESSIAH's beloved redeemed nation ] shall say, You are my GOD, { Hosea 2:14-23 }."

( 74 )- Commentary . . . This passage above is contrasting Israelites who are not the LORD's people, because of their lack of faith, with those who are true Israelites who believe in GOD. Read { Romans 9:25. }

THE GLORIOUS APPEARING OF MESSIAH TO HIS SAVED REMNANT . . .

( 75 )- Have you believed in the past that MESSIAH at His Second advent would return with the armies of Heaven to the Mount of Olives first? I have taught that for many years because the Bible teaches concerning this advent! [ As to CHRIST's Saints - Read { Jude V. 14 }.

( 76 )- Scripture: "And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south, { Zechariah 14: 4 }. "

77 )- Therefore, when the LORD returns back to this earth He, we believe, will first leave the Mt. of Olives, put a halt to the battle of Armageddon, and His clothing will be smeared with the blood of His enemies. He will go very quickly then and appear to His Remnant of Jewish people! Where will He find this saved Remnant? . . . Hiding in Petra of course! First of all after leaving Edom, People watching the great procession of the saved Remnant being led from that place, will ask the question . . .

78 )- { V. 1 } Scripture: "Who is this that comes from Edom, with dyed garments from BOZRAH?" [ The answer: from the LORD as if He is another person ]: "This [ is ] that [ Person which ] is glorious in His apparel, travelling in the greatness of His strength? [ It is ] I [ the MESSIAH MYSELF ] that speak in righteousness, mighty to save."

( 79 )- { V. 2 }: [ question: ] Why are You red in YOUR apparel, and YOUR garments like him that treads in the winefat? [ i.e., winepress? ] . . . Answer . . .

( 80 )- { V. 3 }: I [ The KING OF KING's ] have trodden the winepress ALONE; and of the people [ there was ] none with me [ to fight ]: for 'I WILL' tread [ i.e., "have tread," upon all MY enemies ] in My anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and 'I WILL' stain all my raiment [ clothing with His enemies blood ].

( 81 )- { V. 4 }: For the day of vengeance is in MY heart, and the year of My redeemed [ "Israeli Nation and BRIDE ] is come, { Isaiah 63:1-4}."

( 82 )- Commentary . . . After MESSIAH's return From Petra, He 'WILL' finely establish His Millennial Kingdom. As we have stated, He 'WILL' naturally stop the Battle of Armageddon first and then judge the world's nations, { Matthew 25:31-46 }. The above verses gives us a future description of that battle of "That coming Great Day of GOD ALMIGHTY." MESSIAH the CHRIST of eternity when He first appears to the Remnant of Jews in Petra . . ., His coming from Bozrah is stated again in { Isaiah 34:5-6, 8. } ... { Armageddon, Revelation 16:16. }

( 83 )- Commentary . . . When the MESSIAH arrives in Petra for His Remnant there would naturally be a great revival amongst His people. Then, after the great revival with them, He will lead them through Bozrah [ just north of Petra ] on from there to Mt. Olivet. We also believe that then - after arriving there - this will likely be the time the MESSIAH will build His Millennial Temple, and finish it very quickly.

( 84 )- Read our message concerning the "THE DIFFERENT TEMPLES OF GOD." ] The fact is, the Scriptures does not give the exact sequence of what the MESSIAH will do after His return to earth! Therefore, His many activities to be enumerated can only be supposition in the Bible students point of view! You be the judge. ... One thing the Bible proves . . . They will take place!

ARE LEFT BEHIND AT THE RAPTURE?
